Angling Competition (1938)

In 1938, the newsreel filmed participants arriving for the largest angling competition the north had ever seen.

It starts with people flocking through the railway station turnstiles, then we see the men, women and children lining the canal in the hopes of a good catch.

Returning War Hero (1945)

In 1945, the Lord Mayor, American troops and Congleton's townsfolk turned out to celebrate the arrival of Sargeant Eardley, V.C. M.M. & Croix de Guerre.
